Our next artist to be nominated and spotlighted hails from the middle of the USA! She has a unique username as well as a unique gallery. Let's meet and greet Joanie!

Leave your warm words and read her bio below!

First of all, I, like many others, was totally shocked to find myself in the spotlight. Its like a dream and I thank my peers for nominating me into this position. I also thank the many people who view and comment on my fractal images. There's never enough time in a day to thank everyone personally for what they say, and I get such laughs and smiles from every comment.

Like just about everyone else, I found Caedes while browsing the Internet looking for wallpaper backgrounds. I looked through the galleries and found so many beautiful captures of photography and just kept coming back for more! That was way back in March of 2004. When I was looking in the new images I found these strange looking pieces of art that I had no idea what they were. When I viewed them full screen, I fell in love with them! The art, was of course, fractals. Back then most of that type of art was made by John (Mr. Lion) and Randy ( Hottrockin). They are the 2 that mainly inspired me as well as Ian (ianmacappin) and probably others I don't remember. John got me all started and helped me tremendously! Then poor Randy and Ian got pulled into it....lol....I was a member for 3 years before I even took the plunge of trying and I'm so happy I did! Apophysis is the only program for making fractals that I use. I've tried other programs but always go back to Apophysis. I think after 3 years I know it inside and out....at least for what I want to know. I have different versions of Apophysis but mainly use the 3D hack version. So relaxing to do!!! I also use various editing programs to complete my fractals at times, such as Photofiltre, PhotoShop, Paint.Net and Gimp. When a fractal doesn't turn out as well as I want it, it gets manipulated....lol....

I don't really think I have any favorite image, cause each one is so different and beautiful on its own, but I really enjoy making the spiral types.

As for myself, I'm a retired data transcriptionist. Making my fractals really helped me through the transition from working to becoming a regular housewife again! I celebrated my 38th anniversary on July 1st to my hubby Al. He's also retired, from 3M. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 5 crazy and lovable grand children. They are the joys of my life!!!! I'm just a stay at home person and don't travel, but that's me, I guess. Just a home body.

So there you have it! I have to say that you all at Caedes are the dearest and best friends I've ever had. I really have learned you don't have to meet and be with a person to know them and love them as I love you all. I thank you for being my friends and for the privilege of having this honor given me.

Joanie
