The lace is very very old, possibly 200 years, the rose is fresh from the garden. The lace was given to me many years ago by my mother-in-law and it had belonged to her grandmother. In another life, before computer and camera took over I designed and made clothes, and I used some of the lace on the shirt these pearls and rose are lying on.
