For those of you who wanted to see some more of the Amsterdam Sail event I give you the Amerigo Vespucci. Vespucci was the one person for whom North and South America was named after. Vespucci was a famous Italian sailor and cartographer. He had a wonderful life and found many things on his voyages. Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence, Italy in March of 1451. Amerigo Vespucci is a 3 mast full rigged sailing tallship. Built 1930-31, Royal Shipyard (formerly), Castellamare di Stabia. and carried out many voyages before World War II. The period of the war was the only time the ship has not been active. The elegant, three-mated full rigger serves as the training vessel of the Italian Naval Academy.
