This Burrowing Owl is standing guard at the entrance to its burrow. I'm using a very long lens for this image because I really don't like disturbing the wildlife I photograph. I am shooting with a 1000mm lens mounted on to a window-mounted tri-pod. You can tell the bird is aware of me but not agitated as it is standing only on one leg. If the bird had changed posture I would have left. I'm sure there are either young or eggs in its' nest.
