The story you are about to read is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. While on a photo safari with a friend we stopped to shoot the falls from this location. Both of us were using various formats including 35 mm, 6x7cm and 4x5 inch (10.16x12.7cm). While my friend had the 4x5 mounted on his tripod and was under the hood focusing, the camera started shaking, he came out only to find an elderly lady, on her belly, between the legs of his tripod taking photographs with her point and shoot camera. When he asked her what the --ll she was doing she said "With a camera like that I figured you were a professional photographer and knew the best place to shoot from". He responded by telling her that the equipment he was using was valued at around $3000.00, that the canyon was approximately 2000 ft (610 metes) deep, at this location, and if she knocked his camera into the canyon there was a very likely chance she would go in to retrieve said same. Needless to say she disappeared like the wind. We both had a good laugh over the craziness of some people, risking their lives when they are not trained to do what we were doing (we were both tied off to some trees). She could have very easily fallen to her death (without the help of my friend) for what? A photo that certainly wasn't worth her life. I still remember this like it was yesterday.
