bfrank: Make a real fine entry I would say. I like the light coming in the once picture windows.

A Bit Worn Out by Vickid

Starglow: Lot of wonderful textures here and well worn, great capture.

Lin_O: very well done on second.

Dunstickin: Well spotted...this would be fine for the current contest too!...love the worn textures here

w42w42: I am sure there is so much history and so many forgotten stories in that one picture. Who has walked through that door? Thanks for posting!

Composition of Decomposition by gr8fulted

Nikoneer: That lower chimney that is tilting away from the structure appears to be a material printed with "bricks"... while everything else is in a massive state of dereliction, the edges of the chimney are arrow-straight, with no chipping, and the color of the bricks are consistent. If they were real, they could never be held up merely by a pair of 2x4's sticking out from the side of the house. Appearances tell me the rooftop chimney is made of the same material... tin, maybe? Whatever the case, the more modern additions--the chimneys and the No Trespassing and Private Property signs--don't remove any of the charm; they complement it. That gorgeous landscape behind it doesn't hurt, either.

4th place
Dereliction at Grove Rake Mine by Dunstickin

GomekFlorida: Reminds me of this entry of mine of my house years after we moved. I have pictures of the bathroom but decided not to share but it was in a similar state.

5th place
Dilapidation by jerseygurl

trixxie17: Great one for the contest Laura!

GomekFlorida: It is sad to see so many of these classic structures start to decay. Yet that is the natural selection of things, which isn't bad, just the way it is. I am sure it has served its purpose for many years before reaching this state.
