Mrs. Maple decided to dress up as her offspring head off on their own. Some will live together in a compost pile, some will make warm nests for the squirrels in the area, some will just scatter with the wind and some will just provide nutrients for their mother. Some might be lucky enough to end up as a seedling and become a mother themselves. Mrs. Maple will raise another humongous litter come Spring. You can see some of her offspring here.
