I was back out to the lake again today for some cleanup work. We spent the day clearing the brush and waste wood from the property. So we needed to do something with all that excess of woody material. Suggestions were put forward and by popular vote it was decided to set it on fire. The person, who shall remain nameless, that suggested we donate it to the nearest beaver lodge, was later forced to walk some very hot coals. As none of us actually knew where the nearest beaver lodge was.

Now if we had been smart we would have stopped adding fuel to the fire at mid-afternoon. Which would have given it a chance to burn itself out by early evening, at the time this shot was taken. But, silly us we kept adding wood up until dusk. The fire was still a raging inferno, singeing eyebrows at 10 paces.
