If the plaque in front of this tree is to be believed way back in June of 1939 King George number six had the audacity to plant this tree while his wife, Elizabeth, looked on. You would think she would pitch in and help, maybe she could have held the tree to make sure it was straight or tamp down the earth around it. You would also think royalty would have someone to do the planting for them. But I suppose everyone needs a hobby, even kings.
