He was out there somewhere. We had been following his trail for the past several days. Catching faint sightings and signs here and there, but nothing conclusive. The tracks ran out here. You would think a creature his size would leave a discernible trail on ground like this. It was almost as if he had taken to the trees to cross this patch of open ground. If only we had thought of that at the time, then maybe we wouldn't have lost MacPherson.... the Great White Chipmunk had struck again!
