Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri, on November 30, 1835, to a Tennessee country merchant, but, Virginia City could be considered the "birthplace" of Mark Twain, as it was here in February 1863[5] that writer Samuel Clemens, then a reporter on the local Territorial Enterprise newspaper, first used his famous pen name. While visiting my brother on the 4th we went to Virginia City to where author Mark Twain worked for the Territorial Enterprise during the 1860's.
