This is a true super spooky story for Halloween. There's a nature park about 10 miles north of Lettuce Lake called Dead River. I knew the person who was the caretaker at the park and lived onsite. The story goes that one morning he went to the gate to open the park and found someone hanging from a tree nearby. Some years later, another person was found hanging from the same branch of the tree along with a pile of bloody clothes. Both incidents were deemed suicides. At this point, he took a chain saw and removed the limb as you can see in this picture. I could never locate the tree mentioned when I was in the area, but one day my mom and I happened to be in the park and finally saw it. It was very surreal to be standing by it, and my mom was blowing it off like yeah big deal, until an old gate to the left of the tree was blowing slowly back in forth making the creepiest creaking sound! That's when we high tailed it out there!
