Spotted this delightful stencil artwork on a steel support beam for the tramway that runs past the Alberta Legislature.

What really caught my eye was the position of the two eyes and if you look closer, there appears to be a knight trying to do battle and slay the monster.

So simple and so effective.

Oh, the irony that this should be located near the seat of political power in Alberta.

Levity aside, the contest topic does bring up the interesting question as to whether graffiti can be considered to be 'art', or is the topic based upon approved mural designs as public beautification of a dull corner?

My take is that the graffiti is the illicit infliction of an artistic opinion on the rest of us, which may only be around only until those in ownership of the hapless surface have the energy to remove it.
