Yesterday we packed a picnic and set out to visit seven of our beautiful lakes in one day. My husband/driver/lens-cap holder took along a book to read during our frequent stops and I took a couple of cameras so we were both happy! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The first one,Lake Pukaki is the largest of three alpine lakes in the Mackenzie Basin, South Island,New Zealand. Their glacial feed gives them the beautiful blue colour created by finely ground rock particles (known as glacial flour) The overflow of this lake is dammed as it is part of the Waitaki hydroelectric scheme. . . . . Taken with Canon 450D on 24/10/10 at 12.40pm. . . . . Thank you for viewing. Your comments are very welcome and appreciated.
