Otago Shags, Phalacrocorax (Leucocarbo) chalconotus, formerly known as the Stewart Island shag, a species now found only in coastal Otago, New Zealand. They are protected as there are less than 2500 remaining. They feed in coastal waters less than 30 m deep and are rarely seen inland or far out to sea. Taken last weekend at the end of our harbour breakwater with Panasonic TZ60. Thank you for looking :)
