In the Thai town of Chanthaburi is a memorial lake to a fellow called Taksin. We didn't find it until we stopped searching for it. :) As a long time lover of light reflecting off water I had to share this despite knowing nothing about the reason for the park or the significance of the neon boat.

Mr C has posted a very helpful link below that explains this Taksin was a famous warrior King and the lake is in Chanthaburi because one important element of his wars relied on his conquering of Chanthaburi and use of it as a fortress city subsequently. Thanks Mr C.
