Please do not judge the quality of this shot. It was taken in great haste without any regard for the camera setting. I could not believe my eyes !! the duck in the centre of the shot is a Mandarin. My camera was still in its 'bag', I had to take the shot quickly before the duck flew off or hid. It realy was a ' point and shoot' excercise. This type of duck is not known to visit the canal system in this aea at all !! I spoke to the Valley Rangers about this and they have'nt seen one. If anyone is interested, the shot was taken between Hey Lock and Bradleigh Lock on the Sankey Valley Canal.
