They appear so stately, with heads held high, almost formal, that I could imagine them as a subject of colonial portraiture. "On these shores"..."sea to shining sea." However in another context turning the page to a different era and another environment, I don't think they would quibble over whether to call their fortunes...French or freedom fries.....
