According to a treaty of sort, dating back to medieval times, the protection of the Holy See is delegated to the Swiss Army. Even today, the first condition of admittance to the Vatican Guard is Swiss citizenship (if you don't believe me, go on to the Vatican web site and check it out for yourself!). The attire (uniform) is still the same as those old days! Very colorful and interesting. Shot at Vatican city, summer of 2005.
