Sorry about the size and quality. I forgot to put the desktop version on the laptop that I use to access the internet... anyway, this is the echidna that lives around the property I moved into about three weeks ago. I have seen him three more times since. This is a big thrill for me, kind of like finding a bald eagle nesting in your backyard if you live in the USA. Echidnas are the only mammals in the world besides the platypus that lay eggs. They also has a pouch, like a kangaroo, but the baby echidna leaves the pouch fairly early (before it's spines get too long I hope!) When it hatches it is about the size of a jellybean.
