Long Wharf in Boston was built in 1720 and was a third of a mile long to accommodate large ships out in the harbor. Land has since been reclaimed from the bay for building which shortened the pier. The customs house building on the right was built in 1848 and another just behind was built in 1760 and is now the Chart house restaurant.
