I made this some time ago - it's based on variations of a Xaos fractal and the work was done in Photoshop Elements. First the parts of the image had to be fitted together, as I can only render Xaos fractals to slightly less than the size of my screen. Then there was layering, masking, and wrestling with my signature line... I feel the detail is not as good as I would like, and I had to soften it a little in the grittiest places. I think next time I'll start with better quality renders if possible!
