It’s hard to imagine that small towns like this, tucked away in valleys away from the larger UK cities were the cradle of the modern industrial world. They were the home to textile mills, first running on water power from their rivers, & later on steam power. I liked the way the workers cottages in the background seem to defy gravity, stacked in every direction up the hillsides. Image is of the former mill town of Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, now largely home to a thriving artist’s community. Hope you enjoy it.
