Saw this little yellow fellow for the first time while putting out bird seed yesterday, and thought how it reminded me (form-wise) of the SilverLeaf Nightshade. A little research shows it is in the same family. This is also known as the "Kansas Thistle". Evidently, it's a pretty flower but overall a very surprisingly NASTY plant, with huge spines and huge, spiky burs! This little specimen was only a few inches tall and didn't seem too nasty, as it doesn't have the huge spines or burs yet. I may not let it get to that point...probably best to deep-six it and just have fond memories of the flower!
