This is the beautiful little village of Parkgate at the southern end of the Wirral on The River Dee Estuary. In the 1700's Parkgate was a thriving port, being the main departure point for Dublin. Then the River Dee started to silt up and the marshes developed. A few times a year the tide is high enough for water to cover the marsh and come right up to the quay wall.
