The very cold weather we've been experiencing here in New Brighton has proved fatal for one of the swans on The Model Boating Lake. The lake is very shallow (about knee depth) and it froze very quickly and trapped 17 swans. These were rescued by RSPCA officers and some workmen but not before one swan had died.
