I will continue my Middelburg (Zeeland, The Netherlands) tour with a picture of the 'St Joris Doelen'. This building can be found just outside the 'Abbey ring' (see my recent posts). St Joris doelen was the guild house of the marksmen's guild of St Joris. The facade (1582), bearing the three crests of Middelburg (right), province of Zeeland (left) and the marksmen guild (top) was rebuilt in its original form in 1969 -1970. On the gable is a figure of St George. The building now houses the employment exchange .
