In downtown Rotterdam, The Netherlands, one can see different styles of architecture.

From right to left: the cube houses that go along with other experimental architecture like the pencil shape building, the White House (Rotterdam has its White House too, 😁 ), and newly constructed buildings and buildings under construction.

If you check-out the above link for the White House, you can read that it's one of the few Rotterdam buildings who has 'survived' the German bombardment during WWII. The adjacent buildings were all destroyed. The White House 'suffered' only from riffle bullets because of the fights between German and Dutch troops (Dutch marines) at a nearby bridge. The many impacts of bullets were visible on the facade a long time after WWII has ended. Most of the impacts have been removed during the restoration in 1978.
