this time a capture of the monument of the brothers Huberto and Johanni Van Eyck in Ghent, Belgium. These 15th century painters sit centrally on a raised double throne. Huberto holds an open Bible in his lap and has a palette with brushes on his right foot, Johanni holds his painter's palette in his left hand. On either side of the painters are sculpture groups of (half-naked) men, women and children, who pay tribute with wreaths and flower garlands. They symbolize the timeless universal humanity, stripped of all outward signs.
