This image was taken at a break of the traditional gig ride event/match through streets in the old center of Middelburg, a town in Zeeland, The Netherlands, held at July 14th, 2022.

During this break, the horses were unbuckled and provided with hay and water. The ladies and gentlemen participants took the opportunity not only to consume some food and drinks, but also to socialize with colleagues, friends, spectators, and photographers.

Because the horses were unbuckled, the gigs/carriages were in a tilted position. For me a good opportunity to capture the various flower arrangements. If you look closely, you can see in the gig/carriage a lance. The ladies are using such a lance during the match to push the tip of the lance through the removable rings.

It's my Foofy Friday (F²) contribution for this week.

PS: if you like to know more about this event/match, please read the narrative of THIS POST
