This picture is taken downtown Amsterdam, The Netherlands on October 26th, 2024.
Depicted is the Oudezijds Kolk, a short and narrow canal/lock. The construction of this part of Amsterdam took part between the 13th and 15th century. Although many buildings have been renovated, reconstructed or rebuilt since then, the design of the area has remained intact. This means that (the rear side of) some houses and buildings can only be reached on foot, by (e- or motor) bicycle or by boat. I think that this image shows this clearly.
The steeple at the end of the 'Oudezijds Kolk' is the steeple of de Oude Kerk (Old Church).
