I have been using my Canon G11 for most of my photography because I wanted to get a new walk around lens that has IS so I can use my Canon 7D more.

So I get the 7D out to take some closeups of my little grand daughter and I keep getting ERR20 messages no matter what Canon says to try.

I read on the internet that Canon has this 'mechanical' problem with their DSLR cameras including the Mark V. The usual answer to what to do has been to send it back to the store or to Canon.

Canon will look at it and tell me what the cost of repair will be. It has to be over several hundred $$$ because Precision Camera repair quoted at least $180 for a repair on the 7D, sight unseen.

Or you can buy a refurbished 7D through Canon's Loyalty Program for a charge of $1087. I paid $1200 for this camera brand new almost two years ago!

Maybe this is what broke the auto-focus on my almost brand new Canon 50mm f1.4 lens that was hardly used too.

I'm currently re-thinking my relationship and loyalty to Canon. When you pay lots of money for a good camera, you expect it to last a little while.

Anyone here have good things to say about Nikons?
