Asansör (elevator) was built in 1907 as a work of public service by Nesim Levi Bayraklıoğlu; a wealthy Jewish banker and trader of that period. This is one of the landmarks of Izmir. This old building has been restored recently and now in service of public use for free. On top end there is a cafeteria with a great scene of Izmir city. Very nice place with live music and delicious food and drinks. Asansör is 56 meters high and now has modern twin lifts in the tower. First elevator was run by steam power. The bricks to build this tower are from France, Marcilly. Tanju
