On February 5th 1967, known as Black Tuesday,about 110 fires burned across Tasmania's south east with the D'Entrecasteaux Channel area one of the hardest hit. Sixty-two people were killed, 900 injured and more than 7,000 left homeless. Woodbridge was the only town to survive intact. This included the St Simon and St Jude Anglican Church built in 1885.
