...this photograph is taken from the little village of Eyam in Derbyshire - it is the church in the centre of the village where many of the plague victims from the 17th century were buried. 256 of the 350 inhabitants of the village died when they isolated themselves from the surrounding areas to prevent the plague spreading. The history is grim (and the people were heroic), but the village is beautiful as is the church.
