Last night I shared an image of an immature Red Tail Hawk. Tonight I am sharing the image of an adult. While this bird has adult plumage, it is still on the younger side of adulthood. As a Red Tail ages its sere (skin above beak) turns a dark yellow. In addition, its eyes will darken with age to a deep brown. Last nights bird was maybe 20 feet out and 25 feet up. Tonights bird was 50 yards out and 40 feet up. It is very difficult to approach an adult. Young birds lack their wariness and that lacking becomes a function of their survival.
