A young gull stands in front of the mother and her pup. Its bill stained from the pups afterbirth. Most of the afterbirth has been cleaned up by the gulls and they have left, off to the next newborn seal pup. Only a couple of gulls remain and a temporary peace befalls the mother and her pup. Soon a lumbering male may blunder on to the beach stirring the colony up or the surrounding females may begin their squabbles. Space is tight on the beach and it does not take much to stir things up.....but for now there is peace.
