Minutes from my home, lie the remains of Bristol Prison Gates.. riots took place in 1831 over the oppression of the public .. aprox 10,000 people rioted including 1700 broken out of the prison. flames from the riots could be seen 25miles away. 500 people were killed when the military steped in..including 4 hangings above this gate.
