This image was taken on a rainy night in Shanghai, China, and is of two of the buildings on the Bund (waterfront embankment). The Jiang Hai Custom House (built in 1927) retains the original custom house clock from 1843. Off to the right is the German Asiatic Bank, built in 1940. The lotus type structure in the back (below left of the clock tower) is the Westin Shanghai.
