This image was taken at Chobe National Park in Botswana during our safari. The area is home to diverse wildlife, including large prides of lions (up to 30 per pride), and over 90,000 elephants. There are several distinct areas within the region (you can see this in some of my other posts), but the underlying theme when we were there though was that it was extremely hot and dry. A river used to run through the area, which went dry due to tectonic activity. The area in this image used to be a marsh, and the tree in this image appears almost preserved, as it was waterlogged at some point and as such died. There are several such trees in this old marsh area, which made for some interesting scenery, and added to the diverse range of landscapes in the area.
