The fact is: If A Blue Jay Is Bald It Must Be August.

Blue Jays go through one complete molt a year in late summer. But Blue Jays (as well as Northern Cardinals) often experience a complete molt of their head and maybe even their neck feathers. The feathers grown back in around a couple of weeks.

Captured this image this morning while having our morning coffee outside. If you view in full you can see that some of his/her feathers are coming back in.
