these are actually the skeletal remains of a strange flower that I can only describe as bell pepper looking in shape and red in colour about 2.5cm long. A different view of the same flowers is offered in GENTLE KISS OF RED I think they were chewed on and picked clean by slugs photo taken using the remaining daylight of the evening with the flower skeletons placed on a white glass bowl infront of a venitian blind on a window sill. for me the beauty is still there ..... EDIT ... found out what they are ...CHINESE LANTERN - PHYSALIS ALKEKENGI ... cool 8)
