This is a fresco from inside the South Dakota state Capitol. From what I'm told It depicts the explorer Meriwether Lewis trading with the Sioux Indians. I'm not sure what the lady "spirits" floating above are supposed to depict. If I were to guess I would say the one with the crown would represent the U.S. or Lady Liberty, & perhaps the other female figure would represent the coming of settlers. Maybe some historians out there could take a better stab at this.
