Here, my friends is the explanation about these old things from my contest entry. The big one is covered, and when you turn the little handles aside, you'll open it and see a little glass bowl for a kind of jam, oriental type. And you wish welcome to your guests. The "ring" in fact is a bracelet. As it is the one, made of silver, to the right. The little glass bowl divided in two is also for jam, but for two different kinds, so your guests can choose. Of course, these are very old and and out of use, they are my souvenirs from my grandmother. Mystery solved? LOL
