Skagway, Alaska, USA. Historic Skagway was the staging place for prospectors seeking their fortunes in the Klondike Gold Rush. Others were enterprising individuals seeking to make money off of these starry-eyed fortune seekers. Among them was Levi Strauss; and a number of ladies who offered other things for sale. Today, the Skagway Inn is a bed and breakfast in one of the former houses of Pleasure Alley, the red light district. A delicious lunch is offered there today, after which a walk through their gardens is the most pleasure offered at the Inn. A cluster of daisies had some poppies interspersed. What was not realized at the time, was that this spot marked the starting line of the Great Alaska Fly Race. Enjoy!
