Well, sort of - close up is relative in Alaska. Glacier Bay, Alaska, USA - The Johns Hopkins Glacier is one mile wide, 250 feet high. Formed from numerous tributary glaciers, the dark medial moraine veins form from each joining, the glacier continues to advance, moving about 8 feet per day. In the upper left portion of the image are the ice fields from which glaciers emanate. The mountain rock, seen in the middle, has been shaped by the glacier as well as the harsh elements. Enjoy!.
