Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. The college was chartered in 1693; Sir Christopher Wren, though living in England, designed the building for the Virginia college. Completed in 1700, the building served as the main structure of the college for many years. Damaged by fire three times (1705, 1859, and 1872), it was altered numerous times. In the 1930s, as part of the Williamsburg restoration, the Wren Building was returned to its original appearance. It is still used by the college for academic classes and professors' offices. This view of the Wren Building is taken from the Sunken Garden, the heart of the old campus.
