Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Thomas Jefferson's home was of his own design, based on his studies of classical architecture. Three stories high, his design disguises the upper two levels. On the right is the piazza that is a greenhouse, horticulture being one of Mr. Jefferson's many interests. This southwest portico is accessed from the Lawn, surrounded by a large oval walk with numerous oval gardens along the walkway. His attention to details is evident in that he had drawings for each garden, identifying the location for each specific variety of plant. Having been to Monticello in early November, the gardens were not as vibrant as earlier in the year. (EXIF: ISO 125, 24 mm (24-70mm lens), -.3 EV, f/3.2, 1/5000 sec, AV priority)
