Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. On Mulberry Row, the 'industrial hub' of the plantation, and where hewn log slave quarters were built, the chimney remains from the blacksmith shop, and later added to the building, a nailery. Because it is unstable, designs have been made to stabilize it. In order to do that, an archeological study is required, evidence of which is seen here. The work was completed for the day, with tarps put in place due to anticipated rain that evening. The nailery was added in 1794, with the hopes that is would be an income producing enterprise, with nail rod being shipped from Philadelphia.
