Escondido, California, USA. This was the morning view from the door of our unit where we stayed when in San Diego. Escondido is thirty miles north of San Diego. With a semi-arid climate, the terrain is rugged. Difficult to portray in a photo is how large and steep was this mountain. Looking like a huge rock pile, these were very large boulders - too large to climb over. Steep slopes, it looked like it would;t take much to send these monster boulders tumbling. To the left is a road that traverses the side of the mountain, to houses perched small level spots near the top.
